These magnetic animals encourage spontaneous language and creativity. They snap together easily and can be assembled in any combination.
I like to use these toys with:
*Learners with OT limitations that make puzzles and smaller interlocking toys difficult
*Learners working to expand creative language or play
*Learners that need to be engaged quickly or will lose interest
Skills you can target with this toy include:
*Storytelling, describing, or imaginative play (for example, “What would you call this animal?”, “Describe this animal using color and size words”, “Where would this animal live?”)
*Vocabulary (animals, location words, descriptive words (size, parts/features of an animal, colors and patterns) )
*Following directions
*Introduction to descriptive words (for example, "This feels soft”, “This feels rough”)
*Asking/Answering “WH” Questions (ex. “Where does this animal live?”, “What would this animal eat?”, “Does this animal have 10 legs?”)
I have personally used the first set of magnetic animals (jungle animals) and have watched them stand up to very rough play without significant damage – they are very durable. The company offers a wide variety of other animals as well and I have included a less expensive option if you aren’t sure your learner will love them.
