These products are a collection of soft sensory toys with a variety of textures and colors. This is a toy I use frequently in therapy sessions and has become a favorite of many of my students, but has been especially popular with:
*younger learners
*learners that have been newly diagnosed with ASD or another learning challenge
*get-to-know-you lessons with new, shy, or reluctant learners
*any learner who enjoys sensory feedback
Skills you can target with these toys include:
*Joint attention
*Vocabulary (ID of colors, animals, descriptive words)
*Following directions
*Counting
*Introduction to descriptive words (for example, "This feels soft”, “This feels rough”)
*Open-ended questions for more advanced learners that still enjoy sensory play (for example: “How does it make you feel to touch the soft beanbag?”, “What other things do you think of when you hear the sound of the Velcro beanbag? Does it make you think of an animal, a vehicle, or a musical instrument?”)
I have personally used the first product (the yellow bag of square beanbags) and have had it for more than 10 years – it is practically indestructible! The other two are variations you may prefer for your learner.
