Magnetic Tiles
I love these magnetic tiles for students because they are colorful, immediately engaging, and allow for endless creativity. They snap together easily and can be assembled in any combination.
I’ve found these to be especially popular with:
*Nonverbal, minimally verbal, or selectively mute students who need to express themselves in a different way
*Learners with limitations that make puzzles and smaller interlocking toys difficult
*Learners working to expand creative language or play
*Learners that need to be engaged quickly or will lose interest
Skills you can target with this toy include:
*Requesting (receptive and expressive)
*Imaginative play
*Vocabulary (colors, shapes, location words, descriptive words (size, parts/features)
*Following directions
*Joint attention
*Parallel play
Although Magna-Tile is the original brand, I have personally used many different brands of these magnetic tiles and have never seen one shatter (although I’m sure you will prove me wrong in the comments!). With these tiles, more is better, so I’ve included different price points depending on your learner’s needs. There are also a number of themed packs you can purchase (the Minecraft-inspired packs are usually popular with students, so I’ve included one as well). And if your learner is already a fan, I’ve listed an advent calendar, which I never knew existed but seems like a great gift for those who are comfortable with giving an advent calendar.
